What exactly is the Hajj?

The different states of ihram

Once these rites have been performed, the ihram is removed in Mecca for the hajj.

These tricks are called tawâf. In this case, the believer remains in ihrâm until the stoning on the day of Eid, cuts his hair and sacrifices a beast in the same way as for tamatu'.

Tawaf during the Hajj 2025

If the believer performs the quirân or ifrâd rite, it is desirable that he performs the seven towers of the Kaaba. This is known as the "tawâf al-quoudoum" arrival circuit. Linguistically speaking, The word tawwaf is derived from the Arabic verb Taafa (طاف).

It means "to walk around" or "to encircle something". Its physical meaning is make seven counter-clockwise circuits around the Kaaba.

The beauty of Tawâf

I thought it appropriate to tell you about one of the beauties of tawaf. Indeed, in both Sahihs, and this is written in the Tafsir by Ibn Kathir about al Bayt Al ma'mur, it confirms that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said this in the Hadith about al-Isra. 

After ascending to the seventh heaven: "Then, I was taken to al-Bayt al-Ma'mur. It is visited every day by seventy thousand angels who will not return to visit it again.

The angels worship Allah in Al-Bayt Al-Ma'mur and perform the Tawaf around him, just as the peoples of the earth perform the Tawaf around him. Tawaf around the Kaaba.

Al-Bayt al-Ma'mur refers to the Kaaba of those who dwell in the seventh heaven. Al-Bayt al-Ma'mur runs parallel to the Kaaba. So each heaven has its own house of worship.

Which is also the direction of prayer for its inhabitants. It is said that cosmologically, The Kaaba is considered a reflection of al-Bayt al-Ma'mur in the seventh heaven and the Tawaf of the pilgrims reflects that of the angels. And Allah knows best.

Once this magnificent rite has been performed, the pilgrim continues his worship in the following manner.

The other stages of the Hajj 2025 rites

Following Tawâf, the pilgrim will pray two prayer units behind Ibrahim's place. If possible. Finally, it is advisable to go drink water from Zem Zem.
