Map of Saudi Arabia: an overview 

Let's take a quick tour of theSaudi Arabia. Firstly, the country is surrounded to the north by Jordan, Iraq and Kuwait. Further east, it is surrounded by the Persian Gulf and Qatar. To the south-east are the United Arab Emirates and Oman. To the south is Yemen and to the west the Red Sea.

Saudi Arabia is divided into thirteen administrative districts with appointed emirs and assemblies made up of local notables. Riyadh is the country's capital and largest city.

It has a population of 1,900,000. It is also the country's main financial centre.

Other important cities include Jeddah, a port city on the Red Sea coast. Mecca is the religious capital of Islam and the largest pilgrimage centre. There is also Medina or Madinah, the holy city, where the Prophet (Sallalahu wa alayhi wa salam) is buried.

Finally, we also have the city of Dammam, which is the oil centre of the Arabian Gulf.

How many people live in Saudi Arabia? 

Saudi Arabia has a low population density. It has just 34.27 million inhabitants and 2,967,000 square kilometres. This gives an average of 12 inhabitants per km2.

Similarly, according to a study of the population, there are only 18 million locals, with the rest divided between foreign workers and a few Western investors.

What's the climate like?

L'Saudi Arabia has a desert climate, with very high temperatures during the day and lower temperatures at night.

The temperature in high season is around 45 degrees. However, it can sometimes reach 50 degrees.

In the low season, temperatures are generally above 0 degrees.

Spring and autumn are also ideal, with temperatures of between 25 and 29 degrees.
